• 03/02/2026ILA AND CBI OPEN REGISTRATION FOR ELBC VIENNA 2026, THE WORLD’S LEADING TECHNICAL CONFERENCE ON LEAD BATTERIES
Vienna, Austria – Registration is now officially open for ELBC 2026 (European Lead Battery Conference), widely regarded as the premier global technical conference dedicated to lead battery innovation. The event will take place from September 15–18, 2026, at the Austria Centre Vienna, bringing together key players from across the international lead battery value chain.
Co-hosted by the International Lead Association (ILA) and the Consortium for Battery Innovation (CBI), the conference will be held in Austria’s capital, alongside the Danube River. Early bird registration rates are currently available for a limited time.
Strategic agenda for a transforming industry

The conference programme will cover the latest developments in global lead battery innovation, including automotive, energy storage, motive power, industrial, and micro- mobility applications.
Two pre-conference workshops will take place on September 14. A CBI workshop will explore the synergies between lead and other battery technologies, examining both current and future applications. Meanwhile, an ILA workshop will analyze the European Union’s landmark battery regulation and its global market implications.
Market intelligence and technological progress
- ELBC 2026 will feature:
- Global lead and lead battery market updates
- In-depth analysis of trends in the U.S., Europe, and Asia
- Advances in lead battery research and technology
- Emerging applications and expanding market opportunities
The event will also host the industry’s largest annual exhibition, with more than 120 expo stands already reserved. A range of networking opportunities will culminate in the conference’s traditional gala evening on September 17.
“An industry event for the industry”
Dr. Andy Bush, Executive Director of ILA, described ELBC as a highly anticipated gathering:
“ELBC is always a much-anticipated event, organized by the industry for the industry. It provides a distinctive opportunity for manufacturers, suppliers, and stakeholders across the global value chain to discuss market trends, technical developments, and the issues shaping the sector.”
He also advised delegates to secure accommodations early, as hotel demand in Vienna is expected to be high.
Exploring complementary technologies
Dr. Alistair Davidson, Executive Director of CBI, emphasized the evolving landscape of energy storage:
“As energy storage applications grow more complex, no single battery technology can meet every requirement. We will explore how lead, lithium-ion, and other chemistries each offer distinct strengths and limitations across performance, safety, recyclability, and overall cost.”
He noted that expanding market opportunities require a balanced understanding of multiple technologies.
