A TRIBUTE TO RUDI RESENER!

born on September 3, 1943, in the city of Santa Rosa – RS, was the son of Germano Carlos Resener, a Brazilian, and Tereza Wendland Resener, a German born in Russia. Raised in a rural area, he did not speak Portuguese until the age of seven, when he began attending primary school, where he studied up to the fourth grade.

He repeated this grade out of a love for learning and due to the lack of educational continuity.

At the age of 13, he wanted to move to the city (he did not enjoy working on the farm), so his father placed him on a cart and took him there, but told him that if he chose to stay, he should not ask his parents for another cent. Once in the city, he found a job at Ferramentaria Irmãos Frankhauser, a Swiss family business where he learned the art of toolmaking. His wages barely covered his lodging and meals. Often, he survived on mangoes that fell from the trees behind the boarding house.

Upon reaching adulthood, he served in the national army, and after completing his service, he decided to become a musician. He formed a band that played at dances throughout the region, including neighboring countries. His specialty was the accordion, an instrument he had taught himself to play as a child.

At 23, he moved to Palotina in the state of Paraná to work with his brother-in-law at a brick factory. Later, he moved to Apucarana, where he opened a spring repair shop with his brother. In their free time, they built autocross cages, and he even ventured into racing in various regional competitions.

After leaving the spring shop partnership, he opened a small tool shop where he produced cutting, stamping, and drawing tools. This was the beginning of his entry into the field that would make his name known in the national battery machinery market. He began by making molds for battery covers and later started engraving molds for plate casting — and from there, he never stopped. With a sharp mind and innovative thinking, just by watching a machine work, he could visualize the entire mechanism in his head, often spending sleepless nights sketching parts so he could manufacture them the next day.

He built a solid reputation in both the national and international markets, forming friendships and conducting business in Brazil and abroad. In Latin America, he worked with countries such as Argentina, where he met Mr. Roberto Capoccetti, who opened many doors for him in that neighboring country. He also did business with Colombia, Bolivia, and Peru. In Central America, he served countries like the Dominican Republic and Mexico, where he developed another great friendship with Mr. Lima, who introduced him to several markets in the lead processing and refining industry.

He was affectionately called "Engineer Rudi", despite only having completed up to the fourth grade of elementary school. He was a brilliant professional, training and mentoring many others in the field — including his son Guilherme, who began working with him in 2009 and now, as a mechanical engineer, carries forward the projects and ideas his father once imagined.

of his 79 years, he participated in the Rally dos Sertões, the special 30th-anniversary edition. Over the course of two weeks, he crossed the country, sleeping in tents and following the competitors. During this trip, he earned the affectionate nickname "Accordion Player of the Blue Nightclub", referencing the song written in a nightclub in Apucarana, his hometown.

He cultivated many friendships, always enjoying good conversations — and a cold beer was never missing.

Rudi passed away in 2024 at the age of 80 in the city of Londrina, a victim of cancer.
